BMB - A High-Power, High-Frequency, Push-On Interface

October 20, 2025

When using small envelope RF connectors like SMP and SMPM, engineers often run into the issue of low power handling and fragility. Enter the BMB interface.

BMB RF Interconnects

The BMB interface provides a blind–mate, more robust, and higher power handling option than other SMPx interfaces. Due to its larger form factor, this interface can handle more power than SMP and SMPM interfaces without sacrificing reliability or performance. This also means it’s more rugged.

BMB is also a SOSA-aligned interface and conforms to MIL-STD-348 specifications. This makes it ideal for D38999 input and output panel connectors, embedded systems, and other gang-mating solutions. In fact, it can be used throughout the embedded system's entire RF path.

It’s a push-on connector interface, so you still get that convenient blind-mate functionality. Additionally, it’s rated to 22 GHz, giving you a high-frequency option - which is uncommon among high-power connectors.

Features & Benefits

  • MIL-STD-348, SOSA-Aligned Interface
  • D38999 compatible and gang mateable for versatility
  • Larger form factor for higher-power RF applications than SMP
  • More durable while offering same benefits as SMPx series

Applications

  • Embedded System I/O
  • Board-to-Board
  • High Power RF Transmit

Performance Metrics and Alignment Data

The below plots show typical VSWR variation from DC to 22 GHz for an BMB Female-Female bullet under radial and axial misalignment conditions.
